After his Baccalaureat, Bertrand did a double diploma in Modern Languages and Social Science at Sciences Po and the Languages Faculty at the Sorbonne. He then studied for a year at the University of Toronto on an exchange visit during which time he became interested in political philosophy and theatre studies, before returning to Paris to do an M.A course in Politics and Cultural Administration at Sciences Po. He also did theatre studies at the University of Paris-Nanterre, writing a research paper which notably led him to follow the work of the directors Mohamed El Khatib et Armel Roussel.
Whilst continuing his studies, Bertrand organized the Ecarts Festival (formerly the Red Curtain) for two years at the Théâtre de la Bastille et au Théâtre de la Cité Internationale. He also wrote several articles on the Bureau des Arts de Sciences Po web magazine, « L’Artichaut » (The Artichoke), which enabled him to become an assiduous and curious spectator.
Taking advantage of a gap year, he spent a year working at the heart of public relations and communication services at the Théâtre national de la Colline, until July 2018, before resuming his studies and joining the organization Os in January 2019 at the end of his experience in higher studies.
