Forehead to Forehead

Forehead to Forehead uses the marquee known as « The Dispute », a Roman work of art dating from the 11th century on view in the Sainte-Croix de Poitiers Museum, as a departure point. Three sequences of a single story are sculpted, illustrating a confrontation: two men ostentatiously pulling their beards, trying to outstare each other, forehead to forehead. In working upon setting up the three scenes of the famous gazebo, the students slip into the Middle Ages – not to exhume it, but to feel what is left of it within themselves; and to see if the « forehead to forehead » is still vivid.
