Trained at the CNDC in Angers in 1986, Valérie Castan 's career has been made up of a wide variety of stage experiences and artistic collaborations, first as a performer and then as an assistant. Since 2012, she has described more than twenty choreographic performances and spoken them live. The texts are reread by a blind person. Ahead of the show, she offers a tactile tour of the set with the audience concerned, and a workshop enabling them to physically "walk through" certain moments of the show and familiarize themselves with the choreographic descriptive text. She also teaches audiodescription methodology for choreographic performances at various dance and art colleges, as well as in high schools. She also takes part in awareness-raising events on audiodescription.
