The banquet hall
Invited by the Palais de la Porte Dorée to take over the Forum as part of the L'Envers du décor festival, Gaëlle Bourges, Abigail Fowler & Stéphane Monteiro conceived an installation-performance in response to the hall's monumental frescoes, without losing sight of its primary function: hosting receptions. But how could colonial representations and the festive spirit coexist? By making the painted walls speak with the help of labels, voices and the presence of 8 performers, the program is as follows: to continue to incise the abscesses of colonial history.
